GS Brown has been named a finalist in the Family Business, Growth and Medium to Large Business categories at The Courier Business Awards 2026, continuing an exceptional year of recognition for the company and its team.
Being selected in three categories reflects different but equally important parts of the GS Brown story: our roots as a family-run Scottish homebuilder, the strong growth of the business and our increasing ability to deliver quality homes and developments at a greater scale.
Three Categories, One Team
The Family Business nomination is particularly meaningful to GS Brown. Family ownership has always shaped how the company operates, creating a long-term approach built around accountability, strong relationships and pride in the homes and communities we create.
Although the business has grown significantly, those values remain central to every decision we make. We continue to take a personal and considered approach to our developments, working closely with our customers, staff, subcontractors, suppliers and professional partners.
Our nomination in the Growth category follows a record-breaking period for GS Brown, during which turnover increased by almost 60% to just over £20 million. This growth has been supported by a strong development pipeline and the commitment of our expanding team.
Being recognised in the Medium to Large Business category also reflects the progress the company has made. GS Brown now operates at a considerably greater scale, but our focus remains on building thoughtfully designed homes in carefully selected locations rather than pursuing volume for its own sake.
Growing Without Losing What Matters
Ryan Brown, Managing Director of GS Brown Construction, said:
“To be named a finalist in one category would have been a great achievement, but to be recognised in three means a great deal to us.
“Together, the Family Business, Growth and Medium to Large Business categories reflect the journey GS Brown has been on. We have grown considerably and are taking on developments of greater scale, but we remain a family-run business with the same focus on quality, our customers and the communities in which we build.
“This recognition belongs to everyone across GS Brown. The commitment and standards shown by our office staff, site teams and everyone working alongside us are what have allowed the business to reach this point. I would like to thank the whole team for the contribution they continue to make.”
A Remarkable Year for GS Brown
The Courier Business Awards nominations continue what has already been a particularly successful year for the company.
Earlier in 2026, GS Brown was named Home Builder of the Year at the Homes for Scotland Awards. The award followed a detailed judging process and recognised the company’s approach to its people, partnerships, quality, health and safety, and sustainability.
GS Brown has also received a nomination for House Builder of the Year at the Scottish Home Awards, providing further recognition of the company’s progress and growing reputation within Scotland’s property and homebuilding sectors.
These achievements are a source of pride for the entire business, but they also reinforce the standards we intend to maintain as GS Brown continues to develop.
Our ambition is to deliver more high-quality homes across Scotland while retaining the care, attention to detail and personal responsibility that have always defined GS Brown.
Recognising the People Behind the Business
Every GS Brown home and development is the result of a significant collective effort.
We would like to thank our staff across every part of the business, together with our subcontractors, suppliers and professional partners, for the important role they have played in our continued progress.
We would also like to thank our customers for placing their trust in GS Brown and allowing us to create homes and communities of which we can all be proud.
The winners of The Courier Business Awards 2026 will be announced at the awards ceremony in Dundee on 30 October.
